Quarter of a century + 1

Lucy and me on Mother's day
It has been a pretty mellow but nice birthday so far. Jason and I went to the beach to test the beach umbrella he gave me, but we were rained out. The sky looked pretty ominous as we were driving out and I saw lightening, but we foraged on. We both stood in the water for a second to let the cool waves wash over our feet (Jason almost lost his sandal), then we went to a picnic table and had our breakfast consisting of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and fresh fruit.

Last night we agreed that we will be going vegetarian, verging on vegan. We are choosing to do this because I can no longer eat meat without thinking about the antibiotics and other harmful stuff that may be in there. So, unless I am going to buy antibiotic free meats (which are really expensive) we will go without. We are also trying to cut out dairy. I feel good about these decisions and we will see how our diet changes as times goes on.

My little drink experiments are going well. I drink 2-3 glasses of kefir a day and I just bottled my first hopefully palatable batch of kombucha. The next batch of kombucha will be with Rooibos tea and I have to admit that I am in LOVE with this tea. It is so delicious, I don't know why I was drinking anything else. I am about to have another cup!

As I was looking for a nice picture to post here, I came across the pics from Girls Night at the Ritz! The day after Mother's Day 5 moms and 5 babes (or should I say 10 babes ;-) ) stayed a night in luxury at the Ritz in Sarasota. I won't divulge everything we did, but I can say that if you want an ego boost, weigh yourself on the scale in room 620. You will find that you only weigh 95lbs! The scale in the other room was also wonky, so I guess they fix the scales to make it seem like you've lost weight so that you will visit the restaurant. Haha! I don't think we did as much knitting as we thought we would, but it was wonderful to chit chat, swim, eat, drink and knit with these awesome mommies!

View from the room
Lucy crawling and exploring all by herself
Chatting, knitting, swimming (Lauren + Joey, Moriah, Nicole, Evangeline getting in the pool)
Mallie and Oakley enjoying the pool that has Bromine instead of Chlorine in it.
Oakley eating lemons. This one must have been super sour, the other slices didn't seem to phase him so much. ADORABLE!
These four pictures are from the pool at the Beach Club. Not sure why two of them are sideways.
Ok, I think that is all for now. Just wanted to do a quick update while she sleeps.
